Persona Shutdown November 2016 [completed]

Update: Mozilla Persona support has been removed. If you haven't associated an alternate login method with your account, please contact tom@gpsloglabs.com.

The Mozilla Persona project has indicated that they are going to be shutting down in November 2016.

In preparation GPSLog Labs will no longer allow new accounts to be created using a Persona login.

If you login using Persona you will be advised to add alternative log in details to your account.

As with previous OpenID changes, if you have any difficulties (e.g. you see a new empty account after logging in), please contact tom@gpsloglabs.com and I'll fix it up.

Updates for March 29th

GPSLog Labs is now running on a new server - hopefully you'll notice it's faster!

In the process, the code has been significantly updated to take advantage of improved capabilities available in the new versions of the libraries it uses. (I made approximately 240 commits over the last 5 months!)

That took way longer than I'd hoped, but now that is done I'll have some time to add some new features so there should be more frequent updates again.

OpenID Changes

The most significant change was to support a new OpenID version as Google is switching off the basic OpenID support that GPSLog Labs had used until now.

Unfortunately, because of this change it's possible your account may not be associated correctly when you first log in and you may see a new empty account.

You will not have lost any data permanently but will need to contact tom@gpsloglabs.com to have the issue corrected.

If you notice any other issues after the update, please let me know.

Add additional OpenIDs to your account

With the news that myOpenID is closing down early next year, I've updated GPSLog Labs so you can associate additional OpenIDs with your account. Previously this required contacting me, but since many users will have to replace their myOpenID with an alternative OpenID I've made it possible to do it yourself.

Simply go to your account Settings and click the Add another OpenID button (while logged in with your current OpenID).

Then, sign in with your new OpenID and when you return to GPSLog Labs your account will be updated.

You can continue to sign in with the old OpenID (as long as it is still active) and add as many OpenIDs to your account as you'd like.

There is no need to remove OpenIDs from your account that you no longer use, but if you want to (e.g. to use it on a second GPSLog Labs account for some reason, then please contact me at tom@gpsloglabs.com.)

I've also updated the login buttons and added a Yandex login for Russian users.

Delete your account

This isn't an option I particularly want anyone to use, but you can now delete your account via your profile page. It's your data so you get to decide what to do with it, and if you want to leave for whatever reason, we'll try and make it easy.

This will remove all your data from our servers so you'll probably want to download your logs and export your stats before doing that.

Of course, since there is an automatic signup via OpenID, you'll still be able to login, but what you see will be a new empty account.

OpenID support

GPSLog Labs now supports OpenID to allow you to sign in with an account you already have, rather than trying to remember yet another user name and password.

As a bonus, there is now zero-registration required. Sign in and you can upload a log and get started straight away!
